# Connect Your Slack Workspace

> Learn how to connect your Slack workspace to Confidence and manage its permissions.

**Connect Your Slack Workspace**

Connect Slack to Confidence for notifications and conversations with the agent.

Connect your Slack workspace to receive notifications and use Confidence from Slack. See [Use Confidence in Slack](/docs/guides/use-confidence-in-slack.md) for examples.

The workspace connection installs the Confidence app. Then follow [Add Confidence to a Slack Channel](/docs/platform/notifications/add-confidence-to-slack-channel.md) for each channel where you want to add the agent.
For personal notifications, each user can follow [Personal Slack Notifications](/docs/platform/notifications/connect-personal-slack.md).

## Before You Begin

You need:

* Permission to manage Slack integration in Confidence.
* Permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. Your organization might require a Slack administrator's approval.

Anyone using the agent also needs access to the connected Confidence workspace.

## Connect Slack

**1. Open the Slack integration**

In Confidence, go to **Admin > Integrations > Slack**.

**2. Approve the Slack permissions**

Select **Connect Slack**. Choose your Slack workspace and approve the requested permissions.

If Slack requires administrator approval, ask your administrator to approve the app and its permissions.

**3. Complete the connection**

Sign in to Confidence and check the connection result.

## Check the Connection Result

**Connected**

**Slack connected** confirms which Slack workspace and Confidence account you connected.

A completed connection to the Flag Club account.

**Limited permissions**

**Slack connected with limited permissions** means the connection succeeded, but Slack didn't grant every requested permission.
The page lists available features and those that need additional permissions.

Ask your Slack administrator to review the missing permissions, then select **Reconnect Slack** after approval.

A connection with channel questions available and other features requiring additional permissions.

**Required permissions missing**

**Slack needs additional permissions** means required permissions are missing. Confidence hasn't updated the connection.
Expand **Missing permissions** to see what Slack needs to grant.

Ask your Slack administrator to approve the permissions, then select **Reconnect Slack**.

The connection cannot complete without the required Slack permissions.

Feature availability also depends on your Confidence account settings, permissions, and the Slack channels the app can access.
For other connection failures, see [Troubleshoot Slack](/docs/troubleshooting/slack.md).

## Manage the Connection

Return to **Admin > Integrations > Slack** to manage the Slack connection for the current Confidence workspace.

| Action | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Connect Slack** | Connects a Slack workspace after you approve the requested permissions. |
| **Reconnect Slack** | Refreshes an existing connection or grants additional permissions after approval. |
| **Disable Slack** | Disconnects Slack for the current Confidence workspace, stopping its notifications and agent access. |

Disabling Slack doesn't uninstall the Confidence app from Slack.
To connect a different Slack workspace, select **Disable Slack**, then **Connect Slack**.
